In this article, an analysis has been made of the processes occurring in gas pockets of stack - the internal heat exchanging apparatus of the thermoacoustic device that operates on standing-wave cycle. The results of investigatory tests of the stack of a mock-up thermoacoustic refrigerator (TAR) operating on standingwave cycle are reported. The special features of the stack design are described. A pilot plant is built for investigating performance characteristics of a steam lift device at 77.4–80 K using liquid nitrogen. Heat inflows are calculated and their effect on the performance of machineless pump is studied. The experimental investigations have revealed the flow characteristics of the steam lift device for pressure pipes of 10 and 16 mm inner diameters and the results obtained are summarized. © 2014, Springer Science+Business Media New York. In this article, recommendations are offered regarding selection of basic design components and a description is given of a test bench for investigating the processes that occur in the working chambers of an experimental thermoacoustic device which realizes standing wave cycle. The basic calculating relationships, which determine the critical parameters of the medium in the standing wave cycle and are essential for getting the geometric parameters of the basic units of the experimental device, such as acoustic vibration generator, external heat exchangers, stack, etc., are given. © 2012 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc. A method of calculating partial magnitudes in equilibrium low-temperature adsorption of a neon-helium mixture on a base of the carbon adsorbent AG-2 is proposed and good convergence with experiment is obtained. The minimal specific work required for separating gaseous natural oxygen to extract 17O17O and 18O18O isotopes is calculated. A procedure is proposed for determining the composition of gaseous oxygen by analyzing its isotope composition.
