The invention relates to an electrode holder (1, 2, 14) for the multichannel electrical discharge machining in electrical discharge machines. It comprises a holding element (17), a central body (15) and an electrode mounting section (19). According to the invention, the electrode mounting section (19) includes at least two clamping sections (22) for clamping electrodes (9, 10), wherein each clamping section (22) is connected, preferably via a current feeder section (21), with an own current supplying circuit (20) leading from the periphery of the electrode holder (1, 2, 14) to the respective electrode clamping section (22). The current supply circuits (20) are electrically isolated from each other by one or more insulating elements (8, 12, 25, 26, 30). Preferably the current supplying circuits (20) are allocated in or at the central body (15) of the electrode holder (1, 2, 14).

The gap splits the guide bore in two parts.

The invention relates to a wire electric discharge machine (1) with a handling device (18) for the handling of core pieces (4) produced by the wire electric discharge machine (1) during the machining process of a workpiece (2). The inventive wire electric discharge machine (1) has an upper wire guiding head (6) and a lower wire guiding head (7) which are moveable with respect to each other and with respect to a workpiece (2). The handling device (18) comprises according to the present invention with a gripper (30, 40, 50, 60) mounted in a fixed or movable relation to the upper wire guiding head (6), and wherein said gripper (30, 40, 50, 60) can be moved such as to face a produced core piece (4) with its gripper base (22). The gripper (30, 40, 50, 60) has a fluid inlet (20), by which a fluid flow under positive pressure can enter the gripper (30, 40, 50, 60), and a fluid outlet (52, 65) at the gripper base (22), by which the fluid flow under positive pressure can exit the gripper (30, 40, 50, 60). The inventive gripper has hereby an interior which is designed to guide the fluid flow in such a way to produce a low pressure region (25) at the gripper base (22) by the fluid flow leaving the gripper (30, 40, 50, 60) at the fluid outlet (52, 65). The therewith produced low pressure region (25) at the gripper base (22) is such to generate a lifting force on said core piece (4) by which said core piece (4) can be removed out of the workpiece (2) by movement of the gripper (30, 40, 50, 60).

A wire electric discharge machine for machining a workpiece includes a handling device for handling core pieces produced by the machine during the machining of the workpiece and upper and lower wire guiding heads moveable with respect to each other and with respect to the workpiece. The handling device includes a gripper mounted in a fixed or movable relation to the upper wire guiding head. The gripper moves so as to face a produced core piece with its gripper base. The gripper includes a fluid inlet where fluid flow under positive pressure enters the gripper and a fluid outlet at the gripper base where the fluid flow exits the gripper. An interior of the gripper guides the fluid flow, producing a low pressure region at the gripper base as the fluid flow exits, generating lifting force to remove the produced core piece from the workpiece by movement of the gripper.
