To quickly compute weapons employment zone (WEZ) of the mid-range air-to-air missiles in real-time simulation environment, a new approximating solution based on aiming error in air combat is proposed. By presetting allowable flight range and the corresponding mean speed, the aiming error from relative motion of the own ship with respect to the target aircraft during intercept is used to compute the allowable attack range, and then the employment zone is acquired by repetitive calculation for various target angles of approach. To simulate the complex behavior of a combat aircraft operated by a human pilot, an agent-based modeling method for human-aircraft combination was introduced. By building a human-oriented, modular, hierarchical and multi-agent based model framework, the agent model for aircraft platform was divided into many sub-agent models which could represent the real subsystems, and the pilot agent model was represented by a hybrid structure composed of information processing, situation assessment, decisions and planning and action execution. So the behavior of the pilot agent could be modeled by employing fuzzy reasoning, dynamic Bayesian network, fuzzy Petri-net in the same framework. Finally the human-aircraft combination model was integrated into a simulation environment based on vsTASKER. The ongoing work and test results indicate that this approach is feasible. © Copyright;. To meet the various military requirements of educational training and flight simulation at the same time, a generic extensible software architecture is developed to simulate cockpit display and control system for multi-type of aircrafts simultaneously in both 2D and 3D mode. To acquire variety and modularity, the software uses object-oriented virtual panels to dynamically assemble various human-aircraft interface; to reduce development difficulty, cost, and time, it applies simplest Windows GDI-based drawing technique to produce complex and dynamical display graphics that will represent critical information show in all displays; to enhance immersion and visual effect in flight, it employs Vega Prime and OpenGL-based dynamic texture technology to generate additive and removable 3D scenes; and it adopts multi-threading technology to improve the real-time performance. A new method was proposed to simulate the attacking progress for UCAV using laser-guided missiles to attack ground moving targets. vsTasker simulation platform was used to design combat scenarios and create motion model for UCAV, sensor detection and track model, attacking model for laser-guided missile, and target moving model. And Vega Prime was employed to design 3D scenes, simulate the visual effect for sensor detection and track, and acquire accurate ground-clamped motion for target based on its collision detection technique. Then both vsTasker and Vega Prime simulation engine were quickly integrated into the same application using multi-threading technology, realizing effective combination of model design and 3D visual simulation.
