The structure and crystal phase of the nanocrystalline powders of Ni 1-xCdxFe2O4 (0≤x≤0.5) mixed ferrite, synthesized by wet chemical co-precipitation method, were characterized by X-ray diffraction. Results showed that the lattice parameter increased with increasing Cd concentration. Microstructure was studied by scanning electron microscopy. TG/DTA studies were carried out on co-precipitated sulphate complexes. These studies revealed the low ferritization temperature (650 °C) of the ferrite system synthesized by presently adopted route of synthesis and occurrence of simultaneous decomposition and ferritization processes. Further studies by infrared spectroscopy were also conducted. Moreover, magnetic properties of the prepared nanoparticles were studied by magnetization and a.c. susceptibility measurements. The response of prepared Ni1-xCd xFe2O4 mixed ferrites to magnetic field was investigated. Results show that, magnetic susceptibility, Curie temperature, and effective magnetic moment decreased as the Cd content increases. Source

The ground water samples from three different locations were analysed regularly in every month for its Temp, pH, TDS, conductivity NO2, SO4, PO4, DO, Hardness, chlorides, CO2, MPN, Na+, K+ and COD. All values were found to be within permissible limit, except for COD. The values of COD were found to be high. The results reveal that no specific trend can be predicted for seasonal variation at the three stations. The values depend on location of site, its surrounding, depth of ground water tables, geothermal process etc. © Research India Publications. Source

Barium hexaferrite nanoparticles have been synthesized successfully by using sol-gel auto-combustion technique. In this process dextrose and citric acid both used as a fuel separately. The ratio of cation to both the fuel was maintained at 1:3 whereas the pH of the sample was kept constant at 8. The particle size for dextrose and citric acid sample is 34 nm and 45 nm respectively. The room temperature hysteresis curve gives maximum magnetization (48.46 emu/g) and coercivity (1.350 kOe) values for dextrose used sample. The dextrose used sample gives better results than that of citric acid used sample. © 2011 American Institute of Physics. Source

Stoichiometric compositions of ferrites with the chemical formula Li 0.5-0.5xCoxFe2.4-0.5xDy0.1O 4 with x=0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 were prepared by the standard double sintering ceramic method. X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed the cubic spinel structure of the prepared samples. The structural, morphological and magnetic properties were studied by X-ray diffraction, infra-red spectroscopy (IR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) and ac susceptibility measurements. Lattice constant, grain size and density increase whereas porosity decreases with the increase in Co2+ substitution. IR measurements show the characteristic ferrite bands. Spectral absorption bands were observed in IR spectroscopic analysis at ν1=564-601 cm -1, ν2=486-519 cm-1 and ν3= 551-578 cm-1. The cation distribution estimated by the X-ray diffraction is supported by magnetization and susceptibility studies. The saturation magnetization decreases from 44.25 to 17.14 emu/g whereas coercivity remarkably increases from 240.69 to 812.14 emu/g with increasing Co2+ substitution.
