Today competences formation in the field of techniques and technologies of shelf and marine reservoirs development and exploitation is a significant objective for Russian petroleum industry. The existing approaches to this problem solution are presented in the paper. This analysis showed that the efforts of several universities are not enough to solve the challenge of the modern moment. The project of the Academy of oil and gas engineering is described; the main target is the formation of professional competence In shelf and marine fields development. Numerical reservoir simulation is always a compromise between accuracy of geological description and calculation rate. Development of optimal 3D field model, in terms of number and size of cells, requires adequate recognition of the field's geological and technological features. The paper introduces the method of decreasing the number of cells in a model. This algorithm was applied for Sudanese G oil field simulation. It includes common upscaling procedure and split of the model into parts based on geological characteristics and development technology. Simplified material balance model is built for each reservoir, inter reservoirs transmissibility and aquifer power are evaluated as a ressult of reservoir pressure matching. Division of the initial 3D model is performed according to simplified models with predetermined on Material balance models aquifer flux and interbed leakage. Source

Economic reasons often dictate the application of unit wells net system for development of different reservoirs of an oil field. In this case solution of economic objectives is accompanied by development problems of non-uniform reservoirs depression and water breakthrough through high permeable streaks. Analysis and simulation of multi reservoir field G (Sudan) development, conducted by OILTEAM company in the framework of Field Development Project (FDP), reveals the through a well production cross flow as one of the main problems. The experience of well flow optimization by possible techniques is presented in the paper. Different method of well cross flow diagnostics, techniques and technologies of cross flow control and optimization algorithm of cross flow management are considered. Source

Development of hard-To-recover and offshore resources is the modern challenge of petroleum industry not only in Russia but in the whole world. Perspectives of their exploitation are defined by volume scale, applied technologies of effective production, invest climate and of course personal able to solve new innovation problems. New competencies formation is a laborious and time-consuming problem that needs significant efforts and financial charges. The history of foreign competencies involvement in Russia for the solution of the problem of personal training for breakthrough directions in petroleum industry is considered. The gained experience in training and engineering cluster based on Academy of Oil and Gas Engineering for additional professional education is analyzed. This cluster includes necessary infrastructure for quality and actual training. Academy offers different types of training activity in the fields of geology, reservoir evaluation and engineering. Almost all Russian production operators are the customers of Academy service. The project is proceeding on the basis of private investment that gives it appropriate flexibility. Source
